Providing Instructional Leadership

Fave Quote: No stream rises higher than its source. Whatever man might build could never express or reflect more than he was. (Frank Lloyd Wright)

Personal Leadership Qualities: Strives to increase engagement; identifies differentiated learning needs to co-design optimum personalized learning

Reflection: The entire purpose of school is learning; best instructional practices should permeate the culture of every school. We must strive to improve relationship, pedagogy, and assessment in every classroom and for every learner. There should be daily opportunity for students to participate in authentic, engaging, and relevant learning experiences. Teachers also need these qualities in their professional learning, along with alignment to school education plan goals. Staff need input in the direction of PL planning to enable ownership of their learning. Parents should be offered information sessions to develop their expertise in supporting their learners, as well as to develop skill to face current contexts. As learning is what we do in schools, administrators need to be instructional leaders, first and foremost. Yet our strongest position of influence is to not look at how we can directly improve instruction, but to encourage and provide opportunities for individuals to grow. Building each staff member’s capacity, increases the collective capacity and the level of impact that we can make on advancing student learning. Research supports that teachers have the biggest impact on student learning.
