Modelling Commitment to Professional Learning

Fave Quotes: The best research that any educator can do or tap into, is knowing and understanding the learners that they serve. Everything else is secondary (George Couros).

Personal Leadership Qualities: Engaging in creating meaningful opportunities for collective growth; constant modelling of building individual capacity, including pursuing doctoral studies

Reflection: While students are at the centre of our focus for improving our practices, learners are defined as everyone in the school community. For all of us to realize our greatest capacities in life, every day and every interaction are to be seen as opportunities to learn. Based on Helen Timperley’s research in creating understanding of learning needs, we must: 1) seek evidence that is clearly related to issues, with inquiry mindsets and proper examination; 2) process our explorations through respect of content and embracing its challenge, while being open to support from experts’ knowledge. In my doctoral studies, the research that I encounter is supporting my decision making and acting as a leader. I approach education as a way to create equity;  learners must be invited and involved in our responding to their needs.
