Managing School Operations and Resources

Fave Quote: Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out. (Steven Covey)

Personal Leadership Qualities: Promotes and sustains a safe learning environment; possesses strong business, communication, financial, and technological skills

Reflection: First and foremost, it is paramount to create a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment. Learners cannot perform well, when they are feeling that they do not belong or are not accepted. Second, discipline is an opportunity for learning and growth; collaborative problem solving is an effective way to reduce repeated discipline issues for individual learners. Discipline should be fair through differentiation for each student. At the same time, there are some non-negotiables for choices that impair the wellbeing of all learners. Third, it is important to effectively time manage and communicate in multiple ways to keep people informed. Fourth, when participating in implementation of programs or initiatives, we must be confident that we have the resources in place to sustain support. We will lose trust quickly, if this is not the case. Fifth, we must hire with intelligence and mindfulness — we must secure the best talent in teaching and supporting our students.
